Film Review In IMAX: Dune

This film has been No 1 at the US Box Office for the last three weeks, so we finally decided to see it at the TLC Chinese in Hollywood yesterday...Next door, at The El Capitan, It was the world premier of Disney's 'Encanto', so we watched some of those celebs on the red carpet, then it was time for the show...

The first surprise for us is that the original historic theatre one had been converted & updated to a huge IMAX house, with stadium seating and Dolby Atmos sound, plus seats are now assigned... The other surprise it that the show was packed on a weekday! Masks were required...

You will like this movie if you are a fan of other fantasy sci-fi fare, such as The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Etc...I do like some of the Star Wars films, and the Alien franchise, etc-But over all, I am not a big fan...

For us, the movie was basically a rip-off of Star Wars...Planets are different, powers are different (Not sure why everyone glowed and seemed to have some type of force field or something lol), and the helicopters are like giant dragonflies, etc...

There was a DR Evil type villian who reminded us of the Star Wars Jibba, long battle scenes, and yes a family story background with a few love stories thrown in...

It's better than the 1984 Dud, the sound and picture was unreal, but its too long, and confusing for someone like me that never read the books...
